iSwallow™ is a personal rehabilitation assistant (PRA) that was developed to assist patients who are undergoing rehabilitation for swallowing disorders (dysphagia).
The application was designed to be used only under the supervision of a swallowing clinician (speech pathologist, physician, nurse, physical or occupational therapist).
The clinician can develop a personalized swallowing program that is appropriate for a particular patient by choosing from a comprehensive menu of swallowing exercises.
The clinician can then program the device to alert the patient when it is time to perform their swallowing exercise.
iSwallow™ will be carried by the patient on a mobile device and will alarm and alert the patient when it is time to perform their exercise.
The app will then take the patient through their personalized exercise regimen. Videos, audio, and text instruction are provided within the app to instruct the patient on accurate exercise technique.
Information on patient compliance will be recorded within the app for later assessment by the clinician.
